Ignore, or redirect, the behaviors you do not want,
reward the behaviors you do want.

Example:
Dog jumps up
Turn away and ignore
When 4 paws are on the floor
REWARD (the step most missed)

Rover, come here (redirect)
Here is a nylabone
chew, chew
Good BOY! Pet, pet, pet.

Dogs can’t watch TV, go to school, or talk to their friends. They only know of the world what you teach them.

What a dog knows as safe, is safe.
What a dog doesn’t know, is assumed to be NOT safe.
